About the Project
The inspiration for this project originated from the change at the precipice for the current economy. Much like in the Gilded Age, the rise of cryptocurrency and the digitization of “money” will change the future for generations to come. The work incorporates augmented reality as both a parallel to this paradigm shift and as an alternate vision required to move forward in this new digital world.
In creating the work, Bauti$ta skillfully blends elements previously featured on American currency and masonic symbols into Baroque-inspired compositions. These compelling and conceptually rich works are fraught with underlying feelings of authority, secrecy, mystic knowledge, opulent desire, movement, and reverence. The designs are indubiously both familiar and yet, surprisingly, new.

Each individual work is then printed on metal, an unequivocal choice to symbolize cold, hard cash and the indifference it carries. The collection aims to highlight the intrinsic and perceived value given to currency and thus, how it shapes our lives.

Throughout the series, viewers are encouraged to take a closer look at the role of money in our lives and reflect on the influence it has on us individually and as a collective society.
